What to include
For a light that is not behaving as expected, four pieces of information allow a complete answer in a single reply:
- The type of light — strip, curtain, firework, Christmas string, TV backlight, car interior, solar.
- The app in use, and whether the light appears in the app's device list.
- The observed behaviour, as distinct from the expected behaviour. "Connects, then drops after about a minute" carries far more information than "does not work".
- A photograph of the light and, where accessible, of the controller or hub. A photograph resolves more cases than any written description.
Connection problems
A large share of "the light will not connect" reports are traced to the wrong app for the hardware; the apps are not interchangeable. The app selection guide identifies the correct app for each product category in about a minute and should be checked before writing.
Corrections
Errors, out-of-date information or missing caveats on any page can be reported to the same address. Include the page address; corrections are made once confirmed.
Lights from other brands
The guides here describe our own controllers and apps. A light that pairs with another manufacturer's app uses a protocol this address cannot diagnose; its own support channel holds the details. Products sold by partner brands under their own names are covered, provided the app inside is one of ours.

Reporting a wrong figure in a guide
If a figure in a guide does not match what you measure, include the page address, the figure as printed, the figure you measured, and how you measured it: the strip length and supply voltage, the distance from lamp to wall, the number of pixels on the controller. Where the difference is repeatable, the guide is corrected.
